RunSwim Coogee Aquathlon is a brand new event hosted by Coogee Surf Life Saving Club together with our partners Randwick City Council and major sponsors. Those who entered our inaugural RunSwim Coogee event in May 2022 and then the 2nd edition in 2023 just loved the concept, the route and the overall experience. Join us for our next event in May 2024!
RunSwim Coogee Aquathlon is an important community, fundraising and charity-based event and with limited registrations, is expected to sell out fast. All proceeds from the event go towards maintaining vital lifesaving equipment and services on the beach to keep the community safe.
Combining multiple runs and swims along parts of the famous Bondi to Coogee Coastal walk, it is sure to challenge even the fittest of competitors with the numerous transitions including Clovelly Bay, Gordons Bay and Coogee Bay.
RunSwim Coogee Aquathlon will combine multiple runs and swims along parts of the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk including swim legs in Clovelly Bay, Gordons Bay and Coogee Bay. This will be an exciting and challenging event for those competing, and will certainly be a spectacle to watch.
Included in your registration packs is a premium silicone swim cap kindly sponsored by Speedo and a rash vest/singlet, both branded with RunSwim Coogee branding.
On arrival to Goldstein Reserve, make your way directly to the registration tables to collect your registration pack that includes a swim cap, competitor rash vest and timing chip.
Start waves will begin with the Elite entrants first followed by all other competitors in order of running pace so please listen out for announcements. The event start will likely be groups of 2 or 3 every 5 seconds due to the narrow coastal path.
Coogee SLSC reserves the right to cancel the event due to dangerous conditions, poor water quality, and/or force majeure and there will be no refunds or rollovers to a future date.
Online registrations will remain open up until just before the start unless sold out prior as numbers are capped. Please note there are no entry refunds.
You sure do! This is what makes this event challenging and fun. You will only have wet shoes for run leg 2 and 3 as you can take them off before the final 1.4km swim. The best shoes are light, drain well and have good grip.
Tri-suits / wetsuits are allowed but must be warn the entire event together with the high-vis rash vest over the top and your swim cap. Pool buoys, fins/flippers and paddles are not allowed.
Professional photographers will be there on the day to capture those competing and will be available on our Facebook page to share and download for free.
We have some excellent prizes for Elite male and female 1st, 2nd & 3rd, Open male and female for any age 1st, 2nd & 3rd and teams (mixed male and female) 1st, 2nd & 3rd. There are no 'age group' prize categories. *Prizes must be collected on the day - no post-swim deliveries.
Coogee’s parking is limited and has pay by the hour meters so we recommend using public transport if at all possible.
Our events are fully staffed by qualified surf lifesavers, course marshals, first aid officers and extensive water safety both on the sand and in the water.
Teams of 2 can register and we will take the average time to determine the team placing. Both team members must complete the entire course.
